REASONS WHY I LOVE ISLAND MUSIC

There are reasons why people love for something. Just like me, I want to share of you why I love island music.

It is UNIQUE.

There are also many songs that unique, but I really prefer to love island music. Its uniqueness is different from the other genre of music. In terms of beat of the instruments, it really makes different from the others. And delivering lyrics, they are also unique. For me they are using other words to give another meaning.

It is so COOL.

As you try to listen to an  island music, you feel comfortable (except music that reggae hard rock) and feel so cool. You like listening on a Beethoven concert.  The genre of the music and the rhythm of it makes you feel the island vibration. There are kinds of its music genre, there are light music which include only acoustic reggae, there are also dancehall in rhythm where you makes your body shake it.

It FIT TO MY TASTE.

At first, I don't like island music, but as I start to listen it I learn to love it already. And with the influence of our neighbor who is reggae lover, so I learn to love it. With the combination of uniqueness and its cool nature i easily love it.

What is really important is whatever you like, you must learn to love it.

One of my favorite Song

COURAGE TO GROW

This is a song for those
who lost their hope
a long a long time ago
I know someday that you will find it somehow
Because you're not too old
to accomplish goals
and all the answers are within your soul
its up to you, you gotta figure it out
Uh huh

Whether you want love or money
Good fortune or fame
You want a brand new card
You want the world to change
You better take some action right now, oh yes
Because there's nothing in the world that you can't get
So don't fill your life with confusion and regret
You better take some chances right now

Well you can gain the world
but for the price of your soul
yes I know, well I know, yes I know
you can gain the world for the price of your soul
but I hope you take the road less traveled
and I hope you find the courage to grow
well I hope you find the courage to grow

So now you're 45
and you realize
just what you wanna do with your life
just took some time for you to figure it out
Cause everyone one of us
Has a purpose here
Sometimes its hidden underneath your fear
Just takes some time for the truth to come out

So whether you want love or money
Good fortune or fame
You want a brand new card
You want the world to change
You better take some action right now, oh yes
Because there's nothing in the world that you can't get
So don't fill your life with confusion and regret
You better take some chances right now

Well you can gain the world
but for the price of your soul
yes I know, well I know, yes I know
you can gain the world for the price of your soul
but I hope you take the road less traveled
and I hope you find the courage to grow
well I hope you find the courage to grow

The song was really cool and I like it because of the message behind the lyrics of  song. The band dedicated the song to all who might losing hope. They must keep fight for the life. Everyone of us in this world has different dreams and purpose, and we try to accomplish that. But unfortunately, their are also many people who might losing their hope and they don't believe on their selves that they can do it. They try to send a message that everyone must have the courage to grow. We must try to act now and to don't lost hope, and try to have change in this world.

Everyone must have the COURAGE TO GROW !

Phillipine Reggae Artist

Filipino reggae is reggae music created in the island nation of the Philippines. The country has several bands and sound systems that play reggae and dancehall music in a style faithful to its expression in Jamaica. Reggae in the Philippines comprises the many forms of reggae and its sub-genres, and at times combining traditional Filipino forms of music and instruments in their music.
CebuManilaQuezon and Boracay are some of the cities that reggae has found a base, with many artists residing in these cities and performing at local bars and clubs. The Visayas region of the Philippine islands has had the largest concentration of reggae groups, with the Visayan city of Cebu even being dubbed The Reggae Capital of the Philippines. In Early 2007 Ziggy Marley performed in the MTV Philippines Reggae Fest by the Bay festival in Manila. Marley played with local reggae talents and the big names in Filipino reggae.

Jamaican Reggae was introduced to the Philippines in the late 1960s, however the first recognized Filipino reggae bands didn't appear until the late 1970s. Cocojam is known as one of the first Filipino reggae bands. Ska also found its place in the Philippines, with many bands forming, especially in the Visayas island region. Places like Cebu and Dumaguete became the hub of Filipino ska. Dub music also found its place within the islands, with bands like Junior Kilat popularising the genre with songs like "Sigbin"

The Philippines is also being influence by Reggae style, one of this bands is Brownman Revival, the bands whose performing SKA, a reggae style. Brownman Revival is a Filipino reggae band founded in 1994. They count Big MountainAswad and UB40 among their musical influences, as well as Filipino reggae groups Tropical Depression and Cocojam. One author describes Brownman Revival's music as "reggae-inspired beats with traditional folk pop rhythms and the basest of lyrical themes".
The group consists of Dino Concepcion (vocals), Dennis Concepcion (drums and vocals), Jayson Cuevas (trombone), Ambet Abundo (trumpet), Jojo Antinero (saxophone), Januarie Sundiang (percussion), Jao Larion (bass), Alphy Desaville (guitar and vocals) and Onard Bonavente (keyboards).

One of the songs that also aired in the radio station in the Philippines:

I'm so proud with them that they try to adopt the rhythm of island music. They show how it become unique, and how beauty is Reggae and Ska. Some of the story behind their songs are so meaningful, and it relates to the culture of our country. Some of the topic of the songs is related to how to love a woman and the feelings. By their music, they show what they feel inside of their place.
TROPICAL DEPRESSION specializes in a unique brand of domestic and exotic riddims that of world-wise, conscious and spiritual music. Growing out of the band members’ love and affinity for Reggae and its offshoots, TROPICAL DEPRESSION created a new idiom in music and at the same time functioning as the gateway in introducing the essential Reggae Riddim to the country. This group consist : Dominic "Papadom" Gamboa - Vocals/Riddim Guitar Bong Eudela - Lead Guitar Pexx Holigores - Bass TJ Espinola - Keyboards Ryan Locsin - Drums Arlene Empalmado - Backup Vocal.
Another band is  Jeck Pipil and Peacepipe;  JeCK PiLPiL & Peace Pipe, one of the country's premier reggae act, has once again hit the tracks and recorded their sophomore album entitled Mabuhay Revolution the highly anticipated release of Mabuhay Revolution is the follow-up to their self-titled debut album. JeCK PiLPiL epitomizes the same message of the reggae vibe - social, political, and spiritual awakening. It also shows the opulent culture of the Filipino race, the signature songs Peace Pipe has been known for. They are one of the few bands who put emphasis on the rich Filipino culture and utmost respect to mother nature.
Sit back and feel the rhythm of Peace Pipe's new songs Filipina Island Gyal, Lord is my salvation, corruption, sweet reggae music, rise up, I was wrong, we are poor, holy mt. zion. New songs that will definitely awaken the human spirit; expose the the wrongdoings in the society; appreciate the purity of nature and at the same time enjoy the soothing sound of the reggae vibe Filipino style - the Peace Pipe way.

 One of their song album that introduce the beauty of the Philippines;
Filipina Island Gayl
